Eccentric, Flamboyant, and BizzareBut never judge a book by it's coverCosmo is a whimsical and comical man by nature. He cannot help it.
His speech is excitable, and quirky. A thick Gridanian accent carries in his tone with hard or drawn out punctuation and pronunciations. His favorite social move, is the hand flop. He does it maybe a little too often.
He talks. A lot.
However his pride, bad jokes, stubbornness, and slowness to trust can create a bias and judgement on first impressions. He is often referred to as a clown or not someone who can be taken seriously due to how he dresses or acts.

HELLA WIP AND HELLA LONGCosmo's L'Obscura; The Washed up Has-BeenLittle Cosmo was a curious and exciteable boy. Growing up, he had a fascination with performers, art, and beautiful creatures. The idea of being in front of an audience, and having the attention on him, was a dream of his.The L'Obscura family, was dirt poor and started off by living in an ancient sewer pipe long ago cut off from Gridania. Having had thirteen children, that became a lot of mouths to feed, and they forever lived in poverty right up to their dying breaths. The family worked together to sell shoddy fortunes, con, or pick pocket in the city. Most of their stolen goods were then sold in the black markets of Gridania.Since being the baby of the family, Cosmo was treasured and well taken care of by his various siblings who taught him to read, write, magic, and life skills.Agatha, his last eldest sister, was truly a good sister to him. She was his only friend for the longest time, and was his world. Agatha would show Cosmo the wonder the Star had to offer. She'd read him books on magnificent animals, extravagant places, and fancy people. His imagination grew wild, and he would spend countless nights awake crafting paper animals, and drawing wild scenes from his imagination as curiosity and the urge to spread his wings grew.Though all good things must come to an end.When he was only 6, Cosmo watched his father be eaten by a pack of squirrels in the Shroud.
At the age of 13, his eldest sibling, Nébuleuse, was fated enough to see an elemental for himself, but didn't live to tell the tale. On his 16th birthday, his eldest sister, Eglantine, succumbed to a sickness that lasted over a year, and her body turned to ruby.The following year, his twin sister and brother suddenly became feral, and destroyed the L'obscuras home, as well as maim another sibling. Due to the severity of their aggression and violence, and fear they may be turning voidsent, a few of the family took it upon themselves to put them out of their misery.The matron L'Obscura and the remaining older siblings with their own starting families, all agreed it was a curse upon the family most likely caused by the Padgal or elementals themselves, and they all fled to Ul'dah. There, some of the older children were able to get legitimate jobs in the mines, and over time, the L'Obscura family settled in the desert city.As he grew into an older teen and hit his growth spurt, Cosmo was sent to work in the mines to help provide for the family. It was grueling work, and he didn't prefer it. He was sub-par at best, and often came home bruised and exhausted, much to his mother and older sibling's discontent.One day, after walking back from a long shift at the mine, Cosmo saw smoke rising in the air from the direction of his mother's house. A fire had broken out, and eyewitnesses said they heard an explosion of sorts. The entire L'Obscura family had been getting for their weekly family meal, a tradition for the duskwight tribe to stick close together, and keep strong familial bonds in the bleakness of the world.Only half his family were able to make it out of the fire alive, and the ones that managed to survive were heavily burned. His mother's body was never recovered, other than a pile of ash, and her wedding ring.Cosmo to this day does not know what happened to his family. One by one, Cosmo watched each remaining member of his family die, as the burns were greater than any of the experienced healers could fix. The last to go was his beloved sister, Agatha.Being the last of the L'obscuras, gilless, homeless, jobless, and now losing his mind, Cosmo succumbed to his old survival tactics. He started with small cons, that eventually graduated to longer cons, or petty theft. Eventually, he began to befriend others who lived on the streets. Quickly did he become dazzled by some of their talents and even quicker did he plan to exploit them.Cosmo worked with his new 'friends' to put on performances, where they would ask for coin, and also snatch a few wallets here and there. His business partner and right-hand man, was a hyur by the name of Justin Spark. A spindly man, with boney fingers, and a grin too large for his face. They were the best of friends and if anyone was as exploitive as Cosmo, it was Spark.Eventually, a rich, slimey Miqo'te by the name of Lord Y'hava took an interest in Como's work. He cornered Cosmo and offered him a deal.If Cosmo ran bigger performances that expanded across Eorzea, Y'hava would help to fund it, but he gets to use it as a front to ship things to and from the cities, discreetly. Cosmo agreed, with conditions. A deal, with the devil.With a handshake, Cosmo's fate was sealed.He spent the next several years learning how to run a circus, gain knowledge in showbusiness, and gradually built a circus. He gathered homeless with talent, or those needing work.He was thriving, his shows were grandiose with flavors of whimsical enchantment. Everyone was happy when The Cirque Jubilee rolled into town!The shipments requested by Y'hava were cleverly disguised as crates for the circus. and transported in secret during the shows. No one thought the wiser to look in crates labeled 'snakes' and 'delicate equipment'.As far as the employees were concerned, these were shipments for private sellers of the items. In reality, it was drugs, illegal weapons, dangerous materials, under the table gold, and other various illegal goods.However, all good things must come to an end. Cosmo failed to reveal to his performers that the crates they were moving were not exactly legal. When it was finally revealed, Spark was outraged. Not only did he feel betrayed to not be in the know, but he began to realize the exploitation, and money hoarding that Cosmo had done. He rallied the other performers behind him, and they kicked Cosmo to the curb.Ashamed, again outcasted, and without a gil to his name once more, Cosmo is back on the streets. Y'hava turned his back on him, betraying the elezen in his time of need, and destroying the Circus in a way to make it look like a horrible accident on the road. Cosmo is a husk of his former self now, and desperate for any gil that comes his way.
